Garmin nüvi 260 Reviews, User Feedback and Details

Rating: 8.8 / 10

Actual nüvi 260 User Feedback:

Why did I buy this?
1) The 260 only has what is necessary in a portable GPS. Eliminating many unnecessary features reduces cost, plus makes it easier to use.

2)The touchscreen interface in the Nuvi 260 is so intuitive that ten minutes of just “playing around ” with it is all you will need to be navigating.

3) Has an internal antenna which is one less thing to break. Also, the screen in the 200 series units is significantly brighter and sharper than Garmin’s older 300 series navigators.

4) Speaking the street names is a tremendous asset. Units that don’t have TTS only say “In 200 feet exit right”. You still must glance at the screen to see what street or exit you need to navigate to.

A unit with TTS says “In 200 feet take Exit 37, on right, to Route 67 East”. You keep your eyes on the road with this feature. Text-To-Speech is a safety feature that is worth the extra dollars.

This is a cool gadget. Shows upcoming side streets as you hit them. Screen turns black when it gets dark to show night navigation … a few glitches but I like it

I have really enjoy my 260. Opened the box, plugged her in, off we went. Text-to-speech is a must. She can be a little slow sometimes announcing the upcoming turns.

Highly recommend!
One of the Garmin nüvi 260 reviews from Amazon.com

This Garmin Nuvi is a great little unit. Here are my pluses and minuses:

+ size
+ battery (you don’t have to have it plugged in all the time!)
+ intuitive interface
+ bright, clear, display
+ good “text to speech” (speaks street names)

- no ability to specify a route or have more than one way-point.
- dimming is based on time of day, not ambient light - so it doesn’t dim in a tunnel
- no “TURN NOW” ding like the Magellan

All in all, I really love this unit and don’t think you can get a better, easier-to-use unit for the money. I highly recommend it.

Our Research on the Garmin 260 portable GPS Suggests:

The reviews for the Garmin 260 are very high. Of over 300 reviews that we read the average was 8.9/10, which is one of the highest scores we’ve seen. Good to remember however, is that in general people love GPS navigators and rate them highly.

Limitations:

  • Lacks bells and whistles of higher end models

Verdict:

The Garmin nuvi 260 may not play music or accept voice commands, but it is the lowest price unit in the Garmin product line that comes with text-to-speech, which is a great safety feature. Overall, not perfect, but a great personal GPS for the price.
